Duties and functions of BPMIGAS
The Upstream Oil and Gas Executive Agency (BPMIGAS) is a State Owned Legal Entity (BHMN) established under Law no. 22/2001 on Oil and Gas and Government Regulation no. 42/2002 on the Executive Agency for Upstream Oil and Gas.
As mandated by the law, BPMIGAS’ main function is to oversee and control the business activities of the upstream oil and gas in accordance with the Cooperation Contract, for extraction of natural resources of oil and gas provide the maximum benefits and revenue for the State and for the sake of prosperity as possible for people of Indonesia.
To carry out its functions, BPMIGAS has the following duties:
- Giving consideration to the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources during the preparation and supply of the working area as well as the Cooperation Contract.
- Implement signing the Cooperation Contract.
- Review and submit field development plan for the first time to be produced in a working area for the Minister’s approval.
- Provide continued field development plan approval.
- To approve the work plan and budget of PSC.
- Monitor and report to the Minister on the implementation of the Cooperation Contract.
- Appointing sellers of oil and/or gas that is the state’s entitlement.
